Barcelona Zoo

One of the most visited zoos in Europe occupies a whole corner of Ciutadella, which makes it easy to bolt onto a morning in the park.

The gorillas

The zoo's gorilla programme is its proudest work, carrying on the legacy of Snowflake, the albino gorilla who lived here for decades.

The children's farm

La Granja lets small visitors get close to goats, ponies and rabbits, and it is the most reliably popular corner of the site.

Planning the visit

Shade is thin in the middle of the day, so go at opening and finish in the park's playground as the heat builds.
